Up in the air it flutters, motion signifying movement forward. What is another birthday when you've had so many before - is the celebration new or old? Why is everyone excited, it's not their celebration?

Celebration - words and photograph by Brittany
Finding inspiration in the summer colors of a paper pack from Michaels (Craft Smith - Verdance) to make a bunting to celebrate my mother's birthday tomorrow. Trimming triangles and finding uses for the remnants - a no waste kind of project today.
Summer is now upon us, though the cool breeze after dinner feels more like spring. I've been spending more time reflecting on how to be less wasteful with my projects, not just with material but time as well. Sitting with my afternoon tea and an easy project, while serenaded by the birds joyfully flying from tree to tree, has helped me tick more boxes in my daily habits - fresh air, quiet alone time, work on project each day.
This bunting offers the best in meditative activity - repetitive cutting and gluing. Nothing like a pile of 72 rectangles waiting to be chopped!
**Some details on the bunting - 4" by 6" rectangles with notched bottoms - these notches are a personal choice - I simply folded a scrap piece in half and decided how high I wanted the triangle peak. Mine ended up looking good at 1.5" height. My template was a rough guide for drawing cut lines on the rectangle bottoms. Triangle "flowers" are formed by alternating and rotating two triangle matchups.*
Does anyone else have a cup of something good on the table when working on projects? - Tonight's "liquid" assistant was a cup of Harney and Son's Earl Grey Tea in a Fiestaware marigold teacup and ivory saucer.

Off to more cutting and stringing and arranging for a very summery birthday celebration tomorrow!
